Description: <DIV STYLE="text-align:Left;"><DIV><DIV><P STYLE="margin:0 0 11 0;"><SPAN><SPAN>Intertidal Saltmarsh. Status: Critical Habitat within Abu Dhabi emirate.</SPAN></SPAN></P><P STYLE="margin:0 0 11 0;"><SPAN><SPAN>Location: This habitat type is distributed east to west along the coast and islands from Khalifa Port to the Saudi Arabia border, within Abu Dhabi emirate. There is a higher concentration of this habitat type around the islands to the east and west of Abu Dhabi Island.</SPAN></SPAN></P><P STYLE="margin:0 0 11 0;"><SPAN><SPAN>Description: This habitat consists of intertidal areas dominated by emergent halophytic herbaceous vegetation and shrubs. The grasses, herbs and dwarf shrubs that are the flora species associated with this habitat type coexist with mangroves, with salt marshes typically occurring at slightly higher elevations than mangroves. Salt-tolerant chenopods are predominant near the shoreline as are mat-forming grasses and dwarf shrubs such as Limonium axillare. Organisms include crabs; gastropods; and polychaetes. Saltmarsh is considered a “Blue Carbon” habitat type because it is a coastal and marine habitat that is able to sequester and store carbon. || موئل حرج داخل إمارة أبوظبي. ينتشر هذا النوع من الموائل من الشرق إلى الغرب على طول الساحل والجزر، من ميناء خليفة إلى الحدود السعودية، داخل إمارة أبوظبي. توجد تركيزات أعلى من هذا النوع من الموائل حول الجزر الواقعة شرق وغرب جزيرة أبوظبي. يتكون هذا الموئل من مناطق بين المد والجزر، التي تهيمن عليها النباتات العشبية المالحة الناشئة والشجيرات. تتعايش الأعشاب والنباتات العشبية والشجيرات القزمية التي تعد من الأنواع النباتية المرتبطة بهذا الموئل مع أشجار المانغروف، حيث تحدث المستنقعات المالحة عادةً على ارتفاعات أعلى قليلاً من المانغروف.</SPAN></SPAN></P><P STYLE="margin:0 0 11 0;"><SPAN><SPAN /></SPAN></P><P STYLE="margin:0 0 11 0;"><SPAN><SPAN>تكون النباتات المالحة المتحملة للملوحة هي السائدة بالقرب من الشاطئ، وكذلك الأعشاب التي تشكل الحصائر والشجيرات القزمية مثل Limonium axillare. تشمل الكائنات الحية في هذه المناطق: السرطانات (crabs)، الرخويات (gastropods)، والديدان عديدة الأشواك (polychaetes).</SPAN></SPAN></P><P STYLE="margin:0 0 11 0;"><SPAN><SPAN /></SPAN></P><P STYLE="margin:0 0 11 0;"><SPAN><SPAN>تعتبر المستنقعات المالحة نوعًا من الموائل المساهمة في "الكربون الأزرق" لأنها موائل ساحلية وبحرية قادرة على احتجاز الكربون وتخزينه</SPAN></SPAN></P><P STYLE="margin:0 0 667 0;"><SPAN /></P></DIV></DIV></DIV>
