Description: Evaluation of salinity in the first and second 50cm of the soil horizon respectively was based on electrical conductivity of the soil. In addition to naturally occurring salinity, salinization of farmland is a hazard of concern in irrigated agriculture systems. In Abu Dhabi the combination of extremely high net evaporation rates and often brackish water used for irrigation makes this an even more significant issue.
