Present land use is not considered in the ratings. The clay source evaluation was based on the field observations during the extensive survey. All suitable occurrences of clay were used to estimate the probability ratings for soil classes and map units using the dominant rating method. The map shows the distribution of probable areas for finding clay materials. Generally speaking the soils of the Emirate are developed almost exclusively in materials derived from windblown sand and thus rarely show any significant accumulation of finer materials.
